Complex Made Simple

COÉGA Sunwear reaffirms its commitment to the local community

COÉGA also sponsors the UAE National Lifeguard Championships

As a company that was conceived, established and developed in the UAE, it’s perhaps no surprise to discover that COÉGA Sunwear possesses a strong affinity for the local community.

With its sun protective swimwear for adults and children proving increasingly popular, the company has committed to a number of ongoing community activities and initiatives within the UAE.

Among the most high profile of COÉGA’s community initiatives is its ‘Drop Your Shorts For Good’ campaign. Set up over four years ago by COÉGA Sunwear Founder & CEO Maureen Hall, the charitable endeavour sees gently used or new swim shorts collected, laundered and then distributed to workers across Dubai.

Thousands of pairs of shorts have been collected since the campaign’s launch in 2011, and the goal of providing all beachgoers with appropriate attire remains one that COÉGA feels strongly about. “We remain committed to our worthy cause because there is always a need. Something as easy and simple as a pair of swim shorts can help to brighten someone’s day,” said COÉGA’s Maureen Hall.

COÉGA Sunwear also supports many local sports events and teams through sponsorships. For the last two years, COÉGA has sponsored the COÉGA Mina Mile Open Water Swim Series – the next event of which is taking place on March 12th at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi in Dubai – which sees participants of all ages and experience take part in a series of swimming races.

Sticking with water-based competitions – COÉGA also sponsors the UAE National Lifeguard Championships. The annual event, which takes place in December, has been supported by COÉGA for the last three years with the company donating rash vests and swim caps to competitors in last year’s event.

“It just feels great to give back to those around us. By sponsoring the Mina Mile, UAE Lifeguard Championships and other events, we are able to show our appreciation for the local beach community and help support their passions,” says Hall.

COÉGA’s sports team engagements have resulted in it sponsoring the Atlantis Dragonboat team, the Gazelle’s Ladies Ice Hockey Team, the COÉGA Canons – a girls’ netball team and Greenfield Community School.

Previous sponsorships, meanwhile, saw COÉGA supporting a team from JESS School when it participated in the British Schools in the Middle East competition, a cricket team from DRA Logistics, a Little League Girls Softball Team, and a Ramadan Ladies Sports team. COÉGA has also provided sport shaelas to a local volleyball team and acted as a sponsor for Waves Swim & Sports galas.
