Dubai Duty Free (DDF) has said it annual sales for 2013 grew 11.4% to Dhs6.65bn, compared with the previous year, Gulf News has reported. The year recorded around 26 million sales transactions overall, which brings the daily average at around 71,000 sales transactions, the airport retailer said. “It’s a combination of things. The opening of Concourse A in January increased the retail footprint by 8,000 sq m and provided us with the opportunity to extend our current product range and introduce new brands, especially in the fashion sector, which is doing very well,” said the executive vice-chairman of DDF, Colm McLoughlin. The opening of Al Maktoum International airport also resulted in a positive impact on sales that is set to continue, he added.
