Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their bilateral cooperation in serving business communities of Dubai and Makkah during a signing in ceremony held at the Chamber head office in Dubai on Wednesday.
The MoU was signed by H.E. Abdul Rahman Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman Dubai Chamber, and H.E. Maher Bin Saleh Jamal, Chairman Makkah Chamber, in the presence of H.E. Hisham Al Shirawi, 2nd Vice-Chairman and Atiq Juma Nasib, Senior Vice-President, Commercial Services Sector, Dubai Chamber, and directors of the two chambers.
Under the new strategic partnership, the two sides agreed to enhance channels for transferring knowledge and exchanging experiences and expertise on training and advisory services, as well as delegation visits to promote and develop economic and social activities, organising of exhibitions and exchange of publications and promotional material creating business awareness in both cities.
The agreement also emphasises on inviting members of the two chambers to their respective events, seminars and conferences and to work together to promote the concept of sustainability.
H.E. Al Ghurair stated that the MoU reflects the spirit of cooperation and the strong ties that exist between Dubai and Makkah Chambers, and is beneficial to both Chambers in the area of Islamic Economy and other sustainable development strategies and initiatives launched and implemented by Dubai Chamber as the Makkah Chamber is in the centre of the Islamic world.
He further stressed that the agreement will support and promote the competitiveness of UAE and Saudi Arabian companies especially as Saudi Arabia is the leading trading partner of Dubai in the GCC region and the agreement will directly help to upgrade and take this partnership to a higher level.
The Chairman of Dubai Chamber also informed about the Chamber’s commitment to serve the brotherly countries of GCC and to work jointly with them in the region’s march towards unified economic development.
On his part, H.E. Maher Bin Saleh Jamal said that the MoU will open up new channels of communication and interaction between the business communities of Dubai and Makkah while leading to enhanced trade cooperation and joint investment options.
He thanked Dubai Chamber for this fruitful cooperation and continued support to Makkah Chamber, while also stressing that this agreement will create additional opportunities and benefit the business communities of the two cities in organising conferences and other joint activities in the area of Islamic Economy.
The Chairman of Makkah Chamber also praised Dubai’s economic model, and the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
