Dubai Duty Free expects sales this year to close at $1.25bn (Dhs4.59bn), representing close to a 10% rise over 2009, Gulf News has reported. Year-end sales for 2009 saw a 3.7% increase to $1.14bn, compared to the previous year. During the first three months of 2010, sales hit $307m, a 21% increase over the same period in 2009. Transactions volume edged up further in June, when Dubai Duty Free reported $607m in sales for the first half of the year, a 16% increase.
