The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) celebrated today the UN Arabic Language Day which is marked yearly on the 18th of December.
The celebrations took place at Latifa Hospital and included workshops, exhibitions and lectures that discussed Arabic calligraphy.
The activities focused on integral aesthetics and value of the letters that make up the Arabic language.
HE Eng. Essa Al Maidoor, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, toured the exhibition and said: “This event follows a decree made by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to celebrate the Arabic language and to place it in the forefront. Our aim behind the event is to promote the daily use of the Arabic language that is a powerful language which has great value.”
Ghanim Lootah, Director of Marketing and Communications at the DHA highlighted the importance of this event which celebrates Arabic language which forms an integral part of the culture of the UAE.
Khaled Al Jallaf, Consultant, Quality and Development Department at Latifa Hospital and Chairman of the UAE Arabic Calligraphy Association, said: ” As part of the celebration, we held several lectures, workshops and an exhibition displaying the works of calligraphers from the UAE.”
Al Jallaf added the event will also be held at Rashid and Dubai Hospital.
