Dubai Land Department (DLD) has announced the appointment of Dr. Ahmed Al Shehi as the Secretary General of the Rental Dispute Settlement Centre. Prior to taking up his new role, Dr. Al Shehi was Senior Director of the Information Technology Department at DLD, a position he held until November 2013.
The announcement of Dr. Al Shehi’s appointment came after one month of DLD commencing Rental Dispute Settlement Centre operations. Established by Decree No. 26, 2013, issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President of UAE and Prime Minister of Dubai, the centre is based at DLD’s head office and acts as a judicial arm to its operations, promising speedier resolutions to property disagreements.
Dr. Al Shehi’s new brief includes proposing and setting policies, overseeing their implementation and updating the management structure of the centre. He will work closely with the head of the centre and coordinate with the other relevant departments in DLD.
