Dubai Smart City’s gains to hit AED18 billion by 2019

Cisco report identifies 7 key verticals that will drive initiative from now until Expo 2020 and beyond

Dubai Smart City will achieve potential value of AED17.9 billion by 2019 for public and private sector companies in Dubai, says a study by Cisco Centre for advisory services.

According to Ala’A Al-Bawab, regional sales leader for the public sector, Cisco UAE, a Cisco report on Smart government entitled “Dubai and the Internet of Everything” identified seven key verticals that will drive the Dubai Smart City initiative from now until Expo 2020 and beyond.

Al-Bawab adds: “The municipality, transportation, public safety, national security and defence, a network of Smart facilities, travel and tourism and the retail sector constitute the seven sectors that will contribute more than others in the initiative of the Dubai Smart City and endorse the meaning of hosting Expo 2020.”

He points out that the Smart City project can start from the era of the Dubai Internet of Everything, which Cisco expects will be established worldwide by 2020 through its 50 billion links, reports UAE-based Aliqtisadi.
