Dubai’s Canadian Specialist Hospital gets recognized by DHA

Reaccreditation follows three years of consistent improvements across services and operations

Canadian Specialist Hospital (CSH) has been honored by Dubai Health Authority (DHA) for being reaccredited by Joint Commission International (JCI), in recognition of the hospital’s continuing commitment to patient safety, quality and ethical practices.

CEO Dr. Haider Al Zubaidy received the recognition certificate from His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Maidoor Director, Dubai Health Authority.

CSH was first accredited by JCI in 2011 and the reaccreditation in 2014 follows three years of consistent focus on improving services and operational standards. JCI-accredited organisations are required to be reaccredited every three years as part of ongoing performance improvement.

“We are delighted to receive this award from DHA in recognition of getting re-accredited. The JCI reaccreditation validates our uncompromising approach in benchmarking our service delivery and operations against international standards. Patients are the foremost and ultimate beneficiaries when healthcare institutions decide to be among the best in the world,” commented Dr.Haider Al Zubaidy, CEO, Canadian Specialist Hospital.

JCI accreditation is given to healthcare institutions which successfully complete rigorous assessments on the level of compliance to evidence-based medicine, quality assurance, medical ethics and patient safety, and the reduction of medical errors.

To get reaccredited, institutions have to demonstrate measures implemented to improve performance and address gaps revealed in previous assessments. The accreditation and reaccreditation processes are aimed to see that hospitals ensure a safe, minimum-risk environment for patients and caregivers, offer quantifiable benchmarks for quality and patient satisfaction, sustain performance improvement and enhance efficiencies.

“As a patient-centred institution guided by a vision of state-of-the-art, evidence-based and ethical healthcare our values are a perfect fit with the mission of Joint Commission International. The reaccreditation will further stimulate our efforts to provide a consummate healthcare experience to our patient community,” added Dr.Haider.

In more than 100 countries, JCI partners with hospitals, healthcare systems and other public and private stakeholders to promote rigorous standards of care and to provide solutions for achieving peak performance. JCI supports its partners in improving patient safety and quality of healthcare through education, advisory services on best practices integration and international accreditation as well as certification.

“UAE hospitals have made remarkable progress in recent years in adopting international best practices and providing advanced, tertiary medical care within the country. Canadian Specialist Hospital is proud to contribute to this growth as a JCI-reaccredited institution, especially towards Dubai’s mission to be a leading healthcare destination,” Dr.Haider added.

Canadian Specialist Hospital provides a wide range of medical services and houses some of the most advanced surgical facilities in Dubai. Continuous development and investment in technology, medical expertise and support facilities have contributed to the hospital’s current stature as one of the preeminent medical institutions in the Middle East.

In the recent times CSH has become an active member of the Dubai Medical Tourism (DMT) Club. As part of this esteemed club, CSH will bring together healthcare facilities of the DMT program and thereby create an environment to share experiences and promote Dubai as a Medical Tourism hub. CSH will also actively participate in all the events and seminars conducted by DMT and will be one of the strong voices among others promoting medical tourism in Dubai.
