Experience the thrills and chills of winter at SLC this December

The Winter Land Festival promises frosty fun for the whole family

A touch of festive frost will be coming to the Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) in December with the launch of their highly anticipated Winter Land Festival. The event, sponsored by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), which will run from 20 December 2015 – 3 January 2016, will be open to the public and will be hosted on the SLC Beach Terrace.

The ‘Winter at SLC’ themed event promises the full chills and thrills snowy experience for the whole family, with activities including an outdoor ice rink and al fresco dining across the beach. There will also be a snow field set up, which will include soft, throw-able snowballs – visitors are encouraged to enjoy a traditional snowball fight in the snow field, or perhaps even try their hand at building their very own snowman. To complete the winter wonder package, there will be bouncy castles, a range of frosty-themed kid’s activities and authentic falling snow on offer.

Of the event, Director General of SLC Khawla Al Serkal said: “The weather in the region is beautiful, and while we wouldn’t want to swap it for the hassle and cold of snow, there is something nostalgic and beautiful about throwing a snowball, or ice skating outdoors with your family. It is that positive snowy experience that we want to produce for our visitors at the Winter Land Festival. As far as what people can expect from their visit to the festival, imagine the refreshing burst of winter and magic of snow enjoyed without the downside of icy fingers or slippery sidewalks; throw in a dash of holiday cheer and winter themed activities and you have just a little preview of what you can look forward to.”

Ameera Al Jariri, Events Manager at SLC continued: “We wanted to create a festival that would be fun for the whole family, so we spent a great deal of time mulling over what sorts of activities to include in the programme. After careful consideration, we believe that we have the combination just right, and the snow field, ice rink and dining options on offer promise something for everyone – all you need to enjoy your day’s visit to the Winter Land Festival is a thirst for fun and a good pair of mittens.”

Entry into the snow field will be AED 25 per hour for members and AED 30 per hour for non-members, and it will then be AED 10 for every hour thereafter. Entry into the Ice rink entry will cost AED 40 per hour for members and AED 50 per hour for non-members.
