The first semester of the Future Health Leaders training programme for professionals from the healthcare industry concluded.
The nine-month intensive training programme is organized by Dubai Health Authority (DHA) in collaboration with the International Hospital Federation (IHF) and Index Holding.
His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Director General of the DHA, said, “This programme has been tailor-made specially keeping in mind the nuances of the health sector in the emirate. The aim of this programme is to help potential healthcare leaders take their skills to the next level and learn tools that will help them deliver results in a challenging healthcare environment. The DHA has always recognized and paid attention to training and development of human resources which is particularly important in the health sector and such programmes reaffirm our commitment in this regard.”
During the first semester, participants underwent training in the basics of management and administration skills needed to run hospitals and health centres effectively.
Kenneth Hekman, chairman of the Hekman Group and in-charge of training for this program, said, “I am very pleased with the overall experience. The interaction with the attendees demonstrates their commitment to their country and their organization as they are keen to learn and understand health care management and strategies that can positively contribute to the overall development of the health sector. We are here to expand their capacity but the potential that they hold is substantial. This is a very intensive program and more than a typical class, this is partnership.”
Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, IHF Advisor in the Middle East Region, said, “On my behalf and on behalf of the members of the IDF, I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and President of the DHA and HE Eng. Essa Al Maidoor, Director General of DHA for giving our sons and daughters this opportunity to learn and gain expertise in the field of health care management. We look forward to maintain this partnership between DHA and IHF for future projects. We are proud that this intellectual program was launched in Dubai.”
The second semester will commence in February 2014.
