GCC to unify gastro drugs prices

The UAE health ministry has said drug prices of innovative medicines for gastroenterology will be unified across the Gulf countries based on the lowest price in the region, Khaleej Times has reported. The move aims to provide easy accessibility and discounted medicine prices for consumers at anytime and anywhere in the region, said assistant undersecretary for medical practices and licensing at the ministry, Dr Amin Al Amiri. This will be the fourth group of medicines for which the prices are being unified based on the lowest price in the GCC region, with the earlier three groups including medicines for endocrinology (diabetes), hypertension and cardiology, he said.
