GIB donates to Think Pink Bahrain

To further show its support, the Bank matched the amount raised for the donation

On the occasion of the International Breast Cancer Awareness month and in support of Think Pink Bahrain, Gulf International Bank’s (GIB) staff undertook a fund raising event at their head office in Bahrain during the month of October. The Bank held a Pink themed day in Bahrain, where staff were given information on Breast Cancer Awareness, buy pink giveaways and enjoyed a pink breakfast, whilst wearing pink clothes and decorating their offices with the iconic ‘Think Pink’ ribbon. GIB also lit its building pink for the entire month of October 2015. Through this initiative, GIB would like to raise awareness as to the importance of early detection of breast cancer.

GIB’s Chief Financial Officer, Stephen Williams presented a cheque for the money raised for the Bahrain Breast Cancer Society to Think Pink Bahrain Founder, Mrs. Julie Sprakel during a ceremony held at GIB’s Head Office in Manama on Tuesday, 1st December 2015.

GIB CEO Dr. Yahya Alyahya said: “The money raised by GIB staff in support of Think Pink Bahrain reflects their commitment to worthy charitable causes and programmes of social uplift. The ‘Think Pink’ day was very enjoyable for all and I am very encouraged by their efforts.”

To further show its support, the Bank matched the amount raised for the donation. Julie Sprakel expressed her appreciation to GIB and its staff for their continued support of Think Pink Bahrain.

This initiative falls under GIB’s new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme ‘WAGIB’ launched this year, which aims at supporting local communities.
