Gulf Bank is pleased to announce its strategic partnership for a unique, marathon sporting event to be held in Kuwait.
This new marathon will be held on Saturday, 14 November 2015, and will be the first full road race marathon in Kuwait. The date of the event also coincides with World Diabetes Day (WDD) in order to raise awareness of the growing problem of diabetes in Kuwait, and how exercise and fitness play a role in combating this health issue.
Gulf Bank is pleased to have Pro-Vision Sport Management Company, a leader in sports management with unique specialist experience in the creation and organization of sporting events, as its three-year partner in this event. The Pro-Vision Sport Management Company held a successful ‘642 Marathon’ last year in Kuwait and this new partnership with Gulf Bank builds on that success and increases the scope and size of the event. The number 642 represent the number of muscles in the human body.
This year’s marathon will include five different categories of races, in order to appeal to all levels and age groups in Kuwait. The categories include: Family Fun Run for new beginners (5KM); the Special Run for the handicapped (5KM), the Souq Run for regular runners (10KM), the Half Marathon for more advanced runners (21KM); and the Full Marathon (42KM). The route for the marathon race will pass through high traffic areas including Gulf Road, Souq Sharq, Kuwait Towers, and Souq Mubarakia.
Mr. César González-Bueno, Gulf Bank’s Chief Executive Officer said, “We are proud to have partnered with Pro-Vision Sport Management for this significant event in Kuwait. We believe that this event is a step towards encouraging a more healthy lifestyle in Kuwait. We are also happy to have the Dasman Diabetes Institute as a part of the race. They will be on hand to raise awareness about ways to combat the alarmingly high rates of obesity and diabetes in Kuwait. Part of the proceeds from the race will be donated to the Dasman Diabetes Institute to assist in their ongoing work.”
Mr. Ahmad Al-Majed, Managing Partner of Pro Vision Sport Management said, “It is our honor to have Gulf Bank as our partner. The bank has a long tradition of supporting important events and initiatives in Kuwait. As young Kuwaiti entrepreneurs, we held the “642 Marathon” last year and now with the support of Gulf Bank for the next three years, we will be increasing the size of scope of the marathon. Our aim is to work together to improve the lifestyle of the population of Kuwait by encouraging them to include regular exercise and physical activity as essential components to good health.”
The signing ceremony for this three-year partnership took place at Gulf Bank’s head office and was witnessed by senior executives from the Bank. More details on this new marathon will be forthcoming.
