The Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center celebrated the night of mid-Sha’ban, “Hag Al Layla”, at a number of Dubai’s popular shopping malls.
The events were attended by a large number of visitors who enthusiastically participated in the celebrations.
The events were held under the patronage of Sheikha Salama bint Mohammed and Sheikha Shamma bint Mohammed, daughters of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
The “Hag Al Layla” events included traditional songs inspired by ancient folk music, performed by a group of school students from Hissa Bint Al Mor School. The venues were designed to resemble ancient Emirati neighborhoods, known locally as “Fareej”.
During the events, sweets and other goodies were distributed to children, who were also able to get themselves captured on camera wearing traditional Emirati attire.
“The Hag Al Layla events fall within Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Centre’s strategy to revive our ancestral heritage through educating our children about ancient traditions and cultural practices and the need to maintain them,” said Mr. Ibrahim Abdulrahim, Director of Events at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center.
“The events aimed at spreading happiness and good cheer in the hearts of children and ensuring the preservation of this important Arabian Gulf tradition. We would like to thank the management of malls in Dubai for their unwavering support and for their generosity in hosting this wonderful event,” he added.
