Hanwha to build petchem plant in Iraq

Hanwha Chemical Corp has said it has signed a letter of intent (LOI) to build a petrochemical plant in Iraq, Iraq Business has reported. The South Korean firm will build an ethylene cracking centre and a plant to produce petrochemical products, and these facilities will be part of a larger $4m ethylene and natural gas processing complex planned to be built in southern Iraq. Set for completion by 2020 or 2021, the complex would have a capacity of one million tonnes of petrochemical products annually.
