Hatta Hospital will expand several of its existing facilities and will add new specialized health services in 2016, said a top health official.
Dr. Saif Abdulla Bin Lewali, CEO of Hatta Hospital said that the move is in line with the hospital’s efforts to continue providing patients with easy access to specialized healthcare.
Bin Lewali said: “We carried out an audit to understand patient demographics, the type of patients we receive, the most common diseases they suffer from etc. so that we can introduce priority specialized services in 2016. Since the establishment of the hospital in 2010, we have continuously expanded our services year-on-year with an aim to provide comprehensive and specialized services to the people living in the vicinity and in nearby towns. Our aim is to provide patients with easy access to high-quality health care.”
Bin Lewali said that “In 2016, Hatta Hospital would expand its Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).”
The hospital will also introduce mammogram screening as part of the regular breast-screening examinations.
Bin Lewali said, “We will also introduce new specialized out-patient clinics that will take place on a monthly basis and then we will increase the frequency based on demand. The clinics include specialties such as nephrology, psychiatry and urology. Additionally, we will expand our existing arthroscopy services, which is important for diagnosing and treating joint problems. These clinics will add to the list of 28 specialized out-patient clinics the hospital already has.”
Bin Lewali said that the number of patients the hospital receives is increasing year-on-year. In 2015, the number of visits to the hospital’s emergency department were 107, 476 and the number of in-patient admissions were 2,927. In 2015, the hospital conducted 800 operations, which is an increase of 11 per cent compared to the previous year.
