Iran to boost petchem products more than 2 million tons

Iran's National Petrochemical Co (NPC) has said the country's petrochemical production capacity is set to see a significant increase after "the world's largest ethylene production plant," the Kavian Petrochemical Plant, comes online soon, Fars news has reported. The construction of the plant, located in Assalouyeh, onshore installations of South Pars gas field, will be completed in the near future "and after that it will be capable of producing one million tons of ethylene per year plus other products in the first phase," said manager of petrochemical plans at NPC, Ahmad Reza Haidarnia. Upon completion, the plant's production capacity will climb to two million tonnes of ethylene per year, which will turn the plant into the largest producer of ethylene not only in Iran but in the world, said Haidarnia.
