Jordan’s telecom company profits drop in H1

Total gains decreased by 35 per cent while revenues saw a 5.7 per cent decline

Jordan’s Telecommunication Regulatory Commission announced that total mobile subscriptions in Jordan exceeded 11.56 million during the first half of the year.

The commission adds that fixed-line users during the same period reached approximately 376,470 subscribers, Jordan-based Al Rai newspaper reports.

The latest telecom market statistics, revealed by the commission, show that the number of Internet users in the Kingdom reached 5.9m during the first half of the year, while the number of Internet subscribers reached 1.93m during the same period.

On the other hand, the net profits of major telecommunication companies (Zain Jordan, Orange Jordan and Umniah) reached JOD45.9m during the first half of the year, seeing a 35.1 per cent drop compared with their net profits during the same period of 2014.

The total revenues of these companies during the first half of the year reached JOD395.4m, a 5.7 per cent drop compared with the first half of last year.
