JUMIA, the e-commerce leader in Egypt and Africa, has released its mobile appication on the App store, to give iOS users in Egypt access to the biggest online shopping experience on their phones. This launch comes in response to major demand by iOS users to shop online, and the increasing demand from Egyptian mobile users for more applications and more mobile-based content.
The Jumia appication’s Android version, launched in 2013, today has nearly 5000 active daily users today and is receiving over 2000 downloads every day. Purchases done through the application have increased by 75% from Q3 2014 to date. “This is a clear indication that the demand for access to e-commerce via mobile phones is on the rise among Egyptian consumers,” said Tamer El Fiky, Jumia Egypt marketing manager. “According to the latest statistics by the Ministry of CIT, mobile Internet users make up over 40% of the total internet population in Egypt. In 2014, JUMIA alone has delivered over 500 iPhones, let alone other smartphone devices being ordered and delivered on a daily basis. E-Commerce businesses need to adapt all of their online content to mobile interfaces, in order to reach the majority of Egyptian consumers.”
The Jumia App features two languages; English and French for more flexibility. It is completely free to download on App store and compatible with iOS 7.0 or later, also with iphone, ipad, and ipod touch and fully optimised for the iphone 5.
