Kuwait, India trade exchange hits $15 billion

Ministerial visits to open new horizons for cooperation

The Indian ambassador to Kuwait, Sunil Jain, highlighted the relations between India and Kuwait, pointing out that these links are distinctive and historical.

“The annual trade exchange between Kuwait and India has exceeded $15 billion,” Jain said, stressing the importance of cultural exchanges in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, reports Bahrain-based Al Wasat News.

He revealed that the Indian Foreign Minister is expected to visit Kuwait during this year, confirming that such visits will contribute in supporting the friendly relations between the two countries and open new horizons for cooperation between them.

Speaking about the Indian community in Kuwait, the ambassador said: “India has 20 million citizens working abroad, including 800,000 citizens working in Kuwait and 2.5m citizens in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and other Gulf countries.”

He added: “Most of the Indians in Kuwait work as doctors, engineers, accountants and technicians.”
