Maha Ali, the Jordanian Minister of Industry and Trade, stressed the importance of strengthening the economic cooperation between Jordan and Kuwait, reports Jordan-based Ad-Dustour.
The minister says that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries is still below the required level and does not reflect the strength of the bilateral relations between them.
Ali made her remarks during a meeting on Thursday with Sheikh Nimr Al-Sabah, the Assistant Undersecretary for Foreign Trade and International Organisations Affairs at Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The Jordanian minister says that Kuwaiti investments in Jordan, estimated at about $12 billion in various fields, are one of the first registered investments in the Kingdom of Jordan and are of great significance in terms of high value added to the Jordanian economy.
She notes that the total trade exchange between the two countries amounted to $315.2 million in 2014 – an increase of 5.4 per cent from $301.4m during 2013.
The total trade exchange between the two countries reached $89.2m during the first quarter of this year.
