Largest women’s empowerment Female Majlis hits the GCC

The Female Majlis is the GCC’s first peer-mentoring program, connecting driven women across industries and age groups.

More than 50 empowered ambitious women will gather to peer-mentor and motivate each in mid-March at the award-winning Italian dining spot Sapori Di Bice.

The much-called-for initiative is a signature event by Top of Her Game, the GCC’s largest platform dedicated to breaking stereotypes head-on by showcasing women far from their ‘traditional’ home-making roles.

Top of Her Game’s role models, or ‘Gamechangers’, consist of inspiring women who have accomplished extraordinary feats in very male-dominated fields, ranging from business to sports and technology.

The Female Majlis is the GCC’s first peer-mentoring program, connecting driven women across industries and age groups.

Christina Ioannidis, the founder of Top of Her Game and its Female Majlis, and CEO of Aquitude, comments on the significance of the event: “This new, bigger and bolder version of our smaller, intimate Female Majlis dinners is key for us and a milestone for the UAE. This is the first time 50 Arab women will peer-mentor each other and enable each other to propel their careers through mutual support. We are delighted to be launching this event in the visionary and dynamic Dubai, with the fabulous sponsorship of Sapore di Bice and NStyle International.”

The invitation-only Female Majlis – Breakfast Edition will be held at Sapori Di Bice Dubai on March 19 from 10am to 2pm, with a specially designed format allowing for intimate networking and creative problem solving with the sharpest of female minds. Attendees will also be able to create their own board of directors for their ongoing professional development.

As women in the GCC continue to make the foray into the corporate world and scale new heights, the dearth of informal networking events like the traditional all-male majlis has been lamented by Arab women across the region.

Lama Bazzari, CEO of Sapori Di Bice and NStyle International, is a passionate mentor to women seeking to set up their own businesses or enhance their careers. In October 2014, Forbes Magazine’s 200 Most Powerful Arab Women Awards recognized her as the 25th Most Powerful Arab Woman in Family Business.

Noting the importance of the Female Majlis, Bazzari says, “It gives me great pleasure to be part of an event that helps women find a collective voice and shatter the glass ceiling of the corporate world. Top of Her Game and Christina are doing an admirable job hosting an event of this kind and we are honoured to sponsor such an initiative.”

The Female Majlis has landed on Dubai’s shores following worldwide success with events held in Toronto, London and Singapore, and is held in luxurious venues in Dubai and Manama, and will extend to other cities in the GCC soon. Previous distinguished guests at the event include Farah Foustok, CEO of Lazard Middle East; Lubna Qassim, executive vice-president of Group Company Secretary and the General Counsel of Emirates NBD Bank, and explorer Raha Moharrak, the first Saudi woman to climb Mount Everest.
