At an awards ceremony, the title winner of this year’s Mubadala World Tennis Championship, Rafael Nadal, proudly raised his gold trophy, designed by Lasvit, the official trophy supplier of the tournament for the 6th year running.
The Mubadala World Tennis Championship, with its star-studded line up has become one of the most anticipated sporting events on the Abu Dhabi Calendar. This year’s final saw legendary Rafal Nadal and Milos Raonic facing-off for the gold in a nail-biting final at the International Tennis Centre in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi. Second and third place trophies were awarded to Milos Raonc and David Ferrer, respectively.
Lasvit, the Czech manufacturer of unique works of glass, including bespoke lighting installations, glass artworks and award-winning collections, was founded by Leon Jakimic, an avid tennis player who supports the sport through the creation of bespoke hand-crafted trophies.
Speaking at this year’s final Leon Jakimic, president of Lasvit said, “The Mubadala World Tennis Championship is a world class tournament attracting some of the world’s greatest tennis players to Abu Dhabi and we are very proud to continue to support this fantastic initiative through the creation of bespoke trophies.”
This year‘s trophies, aptly named the Sunrise Trophy and inspired by the brilliance of the rising sun over the desert of the Arabian Gulf, are the creations of Lasvit’s in-house designer Jana Růžičková. The trophies’ outer crystal-clear layer surrounds a gradient of vibrantly colored glass to enhance the luminosity of colors, this year in gold, silver and brass.
Combining traditional Bohemian glass-making with innovative design and technology, Lasvit’s coveted works are found in the world’s most exclusive hotels, from Paris to New York and from Hong Kong to Seoul. Lasvit is firmly established in the UAE and its installations adorn the interiors of exclusive hotels such as Rosewood and St. Regis hotels as well as several discerning private residences.
