The clinical Nutrition Department in Dubai Health Authority had planned several healthy initiatives as part of the UAE Innovation Week.
The initiatives took place at Kite Beach where DHA has set up a Health Innovation Village as part of the UAE Innovation Week.
Dr Wafa Ayesh, Director of Clinical Nutrition Department at the DHA, said: “Providing a platform to promote healthy lifestyle for families is part of our commitment to society. There is no doubt that healthy eating and regular exercise are the two cornerstones to ensure we stay clear of lifestyle diseases. Our aim to educate the community through such ongoing health initiatives.”
She said the first initiative is known as the Healthy Emirati Kitchen which took place in collaboration with TEFAL and Abela Group.
The aim of this initiative was to encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle by encouraging healthy cooking practices in their daily life.
Chefs from Abela educated the public on how to prepare the best-loved Emirati dishes in a lighter and healthier format, using less oil and natural sugars.
The second initiative was the healthy track initiative. The clinical Nutrition Department had set up 6 stations around the jogging track in a sequential manner each providing guidance to the visitors and promoting good health.
The stations were:
2. Body Composition Analyzer
3. Nutrition Consultation
4. Hydrate your body with the beneficial fluids
5. Be fit in a right way
6. Test your Nutritional Knowledge
Ayesh said the main aim of this initiative was to encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle by encouraging physical activity and providing guidance to the people through nutrition counseling.
