Mouj visits schools across Emirate to promote in educational campaign

Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority has reached out to children through organising school visits by the Sharjah Water Festival mascot ‘Mouj’ to public and private schools across the emirate in order to highlight the various recreational and sports activities being offered as part of the SWF 2014, to be held at Al Majaz Waterfront and Khalid Lagoon, from 17 to 20 December.

The ever popular SWF icon, Mouj, was accompanied by a colourful carnival and SCTDA officials during the tours that included visiting more than 10,000 students in 32 schools.

The children were all presented with the beautiful educational magazine all about Mouj and Sharjah and were also given an invitation to his birthday party being held as part of the opening ceremony on the Sharjah Water Festival on December 17 at 6pm.

The Mouj Magazine is an educational publication which was launched at this year’s book fair and tells children about the importance of water as well as providing them with lots of activities and puzzles to highlight the culture of Sharjah in a fun, interactive way. To date the teams have distributed over 40,000 magazines at events throughout Sharjah.

This year’s popular Sharjah Water Festival has a new location, in Al Majaz Waterfront and includes a variety of international shows such as Extreme Water Sports, Sand Sculptures, Heritage Village besides the Carnival and Roaming Musician Shows. Another attraction will be the special ‘Meet and Greet’ opportunity with the fun loving festival mascot Mouj. The festival opens on the 17th and runs until the 20th of December from 4pm until 11pm daily.

This year is the fifteenth anniversary of the UIM H20 World Powerboat Formula One Championship, the Sharjah Grand Prix, to be held on 18 and 19 December in the Khalid Lagoon. The final race throttles into action at 4pm on Friday and will be the high point of the Festival once again. There is public seating available in front of the Hilton Hotel on the Buhairah Corniche.
