Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani Charitable Foundation holds “Ramadan Goodwill Drive” in cooperation with Qatar Charity

Nasser bin Khaled Al Thani Charitable Foundation launched the annual ‘Ramadan Goodwill Drive’ in partnership with Qatar charity. This activity, the first of many planned by the recently launched organisation, reflects the foundation’s objectives and aspirations for active contribution in various philanthropic and social activities in cooperation with other Qatari organisations.

The campaign reflects the spirit of compassion and generosity of the holy month and is in line with the organisation’s commitment to offer help and aid to the less privileged members of our community.

This year’s campaign will see ‘Nasser bin Khaled Al Thani Quran Memorization Competition’ from 12th to 14th of July. The competition is divided into seven categories according to participant’s age groups and is open to both Qatari and expat men and women. The men’s competition will be held at Qatar Charity centre for social development at Al Rayan, and the women’s competition will be held at Qatar Charity centre for social development at Al Rayan and Al Khor.

Commenting on the initiative, H.E. Sheik Nawaf Bin Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani, Chairman of Nasser bin Khaled Al Thani Charitable Foundation, said “We are pleased to present this competition that reflects the true spirit of Ramadan and its core values- symbolising spirituality and brotherhood. This is the first of many activities planned by the Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani Charitable foundation, and we hope it will be a good start for a number of events and activities in the future aimed at social and humanitarian development in Qatar. We would like to that our partners Qatar Charity for sharing our vision and helping us achieves our planned goals.”

We hope to extend this partnership and further enhance our initiatives to serve the less privileged members of not only our local community but also across the globe”, Al Kuwari added.

The Ramadan activities of Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani Charitable Foundation will also feature its keenly awaited charity banquet, being hosted at Yarmouk Intermediate Independent school for Boys at Bin Omran, and will cater to more than 200 observers each day during the holy month.

The heirs of Sheik Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani recently announced the launch of “Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani Charitable Foundation” that deals with charity and humanitarian deeds in Qatar and the world. Sheikh Nasser Bin Khaled charity aims to compliment and assist other charity organizations for the benefit and development of the Qatari community, the Arab diaspora and other less fortunate members of our society. It will provide assistance of philanthropy and public benefit activities, humanitarian assistance, health aid for affected people during times of crisis and natural disasters and help establish hospitals and medical centres where needed. It will also support with the development of educational centres within Islamic communities that do not have the resources to build schools, mosques and centres for teachings of the Holy Quran.

Nasser Bin Khaled Charitable Foundation also announced that Al-Hiba Group will work under its umbrella. Al-Hiba is a charitable non-profit organization endorsed by Qatar Center for Voluntary Activities with representation from women from various nationalities under the guidance and leadership of Sheikha Leena Bint Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani. The group aims to extend a helping hand to expatriate patients with cancer and other chronic diseases irrespective of the nationality or religion they belong to.

Al-Hiba is a self-funded group managed and run by volunteers, whose only aim is to support social and humanitarian development in Qatar for all races. To raise funds, the members organise an annual sale event and a gala dinner once every other year, as well as other community based activities. Al-Hiba Group, since its launch in May 2008, has provided assistance and support to hundreds of residents in Qatar working alongside national organisations and authorities.

Al-Hiba group works closely with Qatar Voluntary Centre and the center had awarded the group a medal for “Best Achievement” in April 2010 in recognition of its achievements and efforts.
