Omani entrepreneurs share experiences at Reyooq event

As part of the monthly Reyooq event, the National Business Centre (NBC), which pertains to the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), hosted Zuwaina Al Rashdi, CEO of World of Handicrafts, and Badar Al Shidi, Business Development and Planning Manager of Al BadrAl Muneer for Modern Projects. Al Rashdi and Al Shidi shared their rich experience, insights and challenges in the entrepreneurship field in the presence of a group of entrepreneurs and business leaders.

The ambitious Zuwaina Al Rashdi worked in several posts in various public and private organisations, yet her aspirations are beyond the sky in the entrepreneurship arena.

“Despite all the challenges that I faced in my journey, I believe that the person who wills to succeed has to fight the challenges and reach to the sought goals. The vision of World of Handicrafts is to make the traditional Omani products grow into a renowned and distinguished brand in the region and even further,” Zuwaina said. World of Handicrafts is actively involved in the production, marketing and promotion of Omani handicrafts in aneffort to preserve the Sultanate’s heritage.

The company supports a number of Omani families involved with arts and crafts in the various governorates of the Sultanate. “When you think about a certain project, you have to think outside the box in order to be able to develop further. In Oman, there are many talented and skilled people, who come up with high quality Omani handicrafts,symbolisingthe richness of the Sultanate’s culture and heritage. We cooperate with families from different governorates in the Sultanate. They are highly supportive and committed to preserving the identity of Oman through the outstanding quality of the products,”Zuwaina pointed out.

On the other hand, the motivated Badar Al Shidiemphasised that the difficulties faced by the entrepreneurs allow them to flourish on a later stage. Al Badr Al Muneer is involved in several activities including the import of meat and poultry, food wholesale, organising events and providing catering for parties and events. Besides, the company is the exclusive local agent for the South Africa based restaurant Barcelos in Oman, which is located in Al Ghubra.

“This came after my field visit to South Africa and observing the experience of restaurants in that part of the world. I believe that Barcelos is only the beginning for more successful endeavours in thefuture,” Al Shidi pointed out.

The National Business Centre (NBC) is an initiative launched by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) to offer promising Omani entrepreneurs a platform to develop their business ideas and advance them into growing ventures.

The centre attempts to become the premier platform for Omani entrepreneurs by providing business development support and guidance, training and mentoring, access to markets and industry experts, and state-of-the-art and fully equipped office space, meeting rooms and presentation facilities.
