Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production (OOCEP) conducted its second Annual Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) workshop at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Muscat on 12th November.
The HSE workshop comes as part of OOCEP’s commitment to achieve the highest levels of workplace safety throughout all levels of the organisation, and to ensure worker safety by delivering appropriate resources and regular training programmes conducted by qualified industry professionals.
The 1-day HSE workshop was attended by over 70 participants from OOCEP and partner contracting organisations from across Oman. Themes covered during the various sessions included; maintaining a culture of safety for OOCEP employees and contractors, compliance with HSE policies and standards, the importance of site security, best practice Road Safety Management and RAS inspections as per OPLA standards.
Commenting on the completion of the workshop, Sulaiman bin Salim Al-Zakwani, VP-Operations of OOCEP noted, “Our Company is committed to maintaining the highest levels of Health, Safety and Environmental protection, because we believe that safety is an investment and not a cost to bear. OOCEP leadership always keeps its door open for continual improvement and we act as proactive partners for all contractors by communicating internally and externally regarding all of our workplace safety policies and training programmes. In this way we achieve knowledge transfer throughout all levels of the company, as well as with our contracting partners.”
OOCEP pursues opportunities that contribute to meeting the future energy needs of the Sultanate, while providing a platform for the professional development of the Omani workforce. The HSE workshop comes as part of the continuous workplace education and training program conducted by OOCEP to enhance the health and safety culture provided to the employees of the company, and for partner contracting companies. The training will contribute to an improved understanding of best practice policies for enhanced workplace safety.
