Pizza Hut, a division of Yum! Brands, Inc. and the world’s largest pizza restaurant company today celebrated its 11,000th international restaurant opening alongside its franchise partner Americana, with a ceremony in the United Arab Emirates’ dazzling Dubai, a city synonymous with milestone achievements.
Located at the iconic waterfront development, Dubai Creek Harbour, Pizza Hut’s brand new ‘Fast Casual Delivery’ (FCD) restaurant will offer dine-in, carry-out and delivery in Dubai. Pizza Hut’s customers will see their pizzas being prepared fresh in an open kitchen and enjoy their meal against a stunning marina backdrop of the new Dubai Creek Harbour development.
Vipul Chawla, President Pizza Hut International commented on the opening, “As the world’s favorite pizza, we are focussed on delivering the easiest, fastest and tastiest pizza experience to our customers. We have a great partner in Americana bringing this vision to life in UAE with the opening of the 11,000th international Pizza Hut at a truly landmark location.
Amarpal Sandhu, Chief Operating Officer – Restaurants, Americana added, “We are privileged to be part of this momentous occasion. Pizza Hut is an undisputed leader in its category in both the UAE and the Middle East region. We’ve come a long way since the first restaurant opening in Abu Dhabi 30 years ago and what better way to celebrate than with a milestone 11,000th opening in the dynamic city of Dubai!”
Americana is one of the largest and most successful groups in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA), with capabilities spanning manufacturing, distribution and restaurant operations. A regional pioneer, Americana introduced the concept of Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs) to the region back in the 60’s. Today, Americana operates 1,900 restaurants, with over 40,000 employees, in 13 markets across MENA and beyond. There are 112 Pizza Hut restaurants in the UAE alone.
Pizza Hut, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE: YUM), has more restaurant locations in the world than any other pizza company. Founded in 1958 in Wichita, Kan., Pizza Hut operates over 18,000 restaurants in more than 110 countries.
According to the Saudi Gazette, the UAE is one of the largest franchise markets in the MENA region, with more than $18 billion invested in the sector.
"Local and international franchise brands continue to grow exponentially in the UAE across a variety of sectors including food and beverage, fashion retail, and convenience store," Export.gov writes. "A combination of factors has spurred this growth, including: an attractive tax-free environment, world-class infrastructure, improved intellectual property legislation, [and more]."
