Prices of 275 medicines reduced in Jordan

The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) has announced the reduction of prices of 275 locally and internationally manufactured medicines sold in the market, Jordan Times has reported. The drugs include pain killers and medication for chronic diseases and cancer, said director general of the JFDA, Hayel Obeidat. The JFDA revisits prices of registered medicines after the end of the protection or exclusivity period for drugs, which is between two to five years, he said. "When the protection period is over, we revisit the price of a drug based on its country of origin, and the prices of competing brands," Obaidat told the daily.
