Qatar Development Bank through its export arm export arm ‘Tasdeer’ has recently hosted a preparatory meeting for all Qatari companies participating in the Big 5 2013, as part of Qatar Development bank’s Qatar Pavilion. The Big 5 will take place at Dubai World Trade Centre from 25 – 28 November 2013 and this is the second year running that Tasdeer will host the Qatar Pavilion. The 360m2 national pavilion will showcase the products of all 33 participating Qatari companies.
The preparatory meeting was attended by representatives from the 33 participating companies, most of whom took part last year, as well as senior representatives from QDB. The purpose of the meeting was to brief participating companies on the steps being taken to ensure a strong Qatari presence at the international event. During the meeting the Qatari representative companies were also briefed on the importance of preparing thoroughly for their participation in order to maximise the opportunity of meeting influential representatives from global importers around the world.
The Big 5 is the Middle East and North Africa’s largest construction industry event with more than 2,500 exhibitors from 75 countries. At a time when construction is booming across the Middle East and North Africa, international companies see the MENA region as the ideal platform for launching new innovative industry ideas and practices.
Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa, CEO, QDB said: “Throughout our support to the Qatari companies to reach the global markets, we are working on highlighting their capabilities and encouraging them to participate in global events. In this way, we are helping them build strong global partnerships and introduce the industrial basis of the Qatari companies.”
He added, “Based on the last year’s successful event, we are proud to organize the Qatari companies’ participation, for the second consecutive year, at the Big 5 event. The aim behind this is to develop export opportunities and open new horizons for these companies, which are part of our main pillars at QDB, and thus enhance the role of the private sector especially when it comes to exportation.”
In addition to supporting businesses in developing their export capabilities through participating in global events and activities such as The Big 5, QDB through its export arm program also take part in match-making programs, training workshops and export development and promotion activities in addition to publishing specialized industry guides, such as the “Trade Secret” and the “Qatar Exporters Directory”. QDB also provides private sector exporters with financial solutions, credit insurances and advisory services.
