An educator resource centre has been launched by Qatar University (QU) and the Supreme Education Council (SEC), as an initiative to meet the county's goals towards education reform, the Peninsula has reported. Qatar National Centre for Educator Development (NCED), a resource for the development of teaching personnel, will be managed by QU College of Education (CED) and operate in partnership with and under supervision of the SEC. This independent centre aims to increase the Gulf state's internal capacity to prepare highly-qualified Independent School educators. It will also help to conduct research and evaluation of the efficacy of educator development initiatives in terms of recruitment, development and retention of personnel and to provide such information to policymakers and school leaders.
