Qatargas sponsors Stenden University students’ event for special needs children

Qatargas has extended its support to a group of students from Stenden University, Qatar, in organising a recreational event aimed at increasing public awareness on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and to reduce the societal stigmatization of the disability.

The event, named “The Bigger Picture”, being organized by a group of Qatari and expatriate students at Stenden University, will be held on 5th June at the Oasis Beach Club, and will include group-related activities and games for students of Shafallah Centre, Aswaj Institute, Al Noor and HOPE Qatar.

The event was announced at a ceremony today in the Qatargas Doha Head Office, attended by Mansour Rashid Al Naimi, Public Relations Manager at Qatargas, Shams Zaman, Project Manager from Stenden University, and students Hedda Heinelt, and Gaoyuan Chen.

Commenting on Qatargas’ support to the university, Mansour Al Naimi, Qatargas PR Manager, said, “We are pleased to extend support to students of Stenden University, Qatar, for organising this event as part of their graduate studies. The event will help children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities accomplish seemingly impossible tasks through team work and mutual cooperation. This sponsorship builds upon our strategy to support our community, and contribute towards achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030.”

“All we need to do is pay attention and work on integrating children with such challenges into society, which will create a huge difference in their lives. I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to Stenden University and its students for this great initiative.”

Shams Zaman, Project Manager of “The Bigger Picture” at Stenden University, said, “We are excited to be working on our event, which is made possible thanks to companies such as Qatargas for their continued support during this important phase of our studies. Student-made events help students studying Events Management in gaining experience from real-life scenarios and challenges faced while conceptualizing and hosting events. It is a wonderful opportunity to work with Qatargas as our students at Stenden University Qatar will be working to enter the industry in the near future.”

“The Bigger Picture” champions disabled members as integral to our highly active and busy society. The event includes activities that highlight the concept of synergy, something that is used actively in educational and professional scenarios every day to achieve results that are beyond one person’s abilities. The message of this event is to lift the morale of those with special needs and remove all obstacles to integrate them into society and raise awareness about voluntary work in all areas.

Students of Stenden University, Qatar, are organising this event as part of the Events Management minor offered at the university, which require the third year students to create, conceptualize and host events of various scales, ideas and goals to gain experience.
