Qatari banks report 71% surge in fixed deposits

According to figures from the Qatari central bank, fixed deposits of banks in the Gulf country have surged 71% in the last five years to QR72.87bn at the end of 2012, from QR42.58bn at the end of 2008, the Peninsula has reported. During the period, saving deposits also soared 102% to QR37.17bn at the end of 2012 from QR18.43bn, the data showed.
