Ramadan price freeze for 160 items in Qatar

Qatar's ministry of business and trade plans to freeze prices of at least 160 basic food and non-food items below their retail cost prices from July 25, as part of the business and trade ministry's plans to help make essential items available at affordable rates to consumers, the Peninsula has reported. The move aims to ensure that wholesalers and retailers do not raise the prices of essential commodities during the holy month of Ramadan when demand for several food and non-food items goes up substantially.
