Following the vision of the Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah revealed the details of its second Afaaq Leadership Camp during a meeting with media representatives, participating young ladies, parents, sponsors and collaborators.
The camp will be launched on the 19th of December and run until the 24th of December with the goal of improving the Emirati young ladies and honing her leadership skills, as well as preparing a generation of prominent female Emirati leaders on both the local and international levels.
The camp will be held at the 72 by Hues Hotel in Sharjah and will have 40 participants, all of whom are members of Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, Women Sports Department at Sharjah Ladies Club and Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation.
It aims to unearth a sense of leadership within the young ladies and help them gain leadership skills and self-improvement through a variety of workshops and training programmes, such as the self-confidence workshop provided by Marwa Karoura, the etiquette workshop by the consultant Mohammed Al Marzooqi, volunteering program, and goal-achievement program with the UAE Adventurers Team, as well as entertaining field trips and varied sports activities.
In a statement on the occasion, HE Aisha Khalid Al Qasimi, Head of the Committees for the Second Afaaq Leadership Camp, said: “We are getting ready to launch the second edition of Afaaq Leadership Camp, during a time that coincides with a special period of UAE’s history which is full of achievements and successes. As the nation has recently celebrated its 44th National Day, we have to remember the sacrifices given by the founding fathers and pioneer leaders, and draw inspiration from their leadership spirit in order to strengthen these same characteristics in the participants of the second Afaaq Leadership Camp.”
She also added: “We have been commissioned by the Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council of Family Affairs, to take on the responsibility of building generations of highly qualified young ladies who are able to assume leadership positions in the future. In response to HH trust and after the success of the first edition, we launch today the 2nd edition of Afaaq Leadership Camp and it is our pleasure to put the Emirati young ladies and their future at the top of our priorities list.”
Afaaq Leadership Camp is created specifically to encourage Emirati young ladies to develop their personal and leadership skills in order to rise to high ranks in society, and raise their knowledge regarding the culture of social responsibility and national participation, strengthen their existing knowledge, and enrich their experiences. All of this is done with the goal of empowering them for the future and making them active participants in social and cultural discussions in the near future.
The camp is held under the media sponsorship of the Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC) and with the cooperation of the General Management of the Sharjah Police General Directorate, Women’s Sports Department at the Sharjah Ladies Club, General Department of Children Centers and Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation.

Al Midfa expressed his happiness to cooperate with Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, and his support for its efforts and plans to build a generation of Emirati young ladies who are qualified and capable of taking on high roles of leadership in the future, all thanks to the intensive training programs, and various cultural activities that are offered around the year, one of which is Afaaq Leadership Camp, launching soon in Sharjah.
Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah organized the Afaaq First Leadership Camp between the 6th and 11th of August 2014, with the participation of 40 young ladies, all of whom belong to Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, including some who belong to the management of Women’s Sports Department at the Sharjah Ladies Club, a girl who belonged to the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, and several external participants.
