Saudi Arabia moves to address rise in women’s illiteracy

The Saudi government has announced a five-year road map after a study found that illiteracy among Saudi women has reached 19%, Arab News has reported. The report, by the education ministry, said the shortage of female teachers and poor transportation were the main causes for the rise in illiteracy rate. "The highest number of illiterate women can be found in villages and remote places," the ministry said.
