Saudi bans selling tobacco to under 18s

The Saudi ministry of municipal and rural affairs has issued a ban on the sale of tobacco to youth under 18, in line with the kingdom's agreement with the World Health Organisation to prevent the expansion of smoking among adolescents, UPI has reported. The move is part of a broader public health programme launched by the government as it seeks to help raise families' awareness about the danger of smoking, as well as support the national economy by reducing costs incurred in treating smoking-related diseases, the ministry said.
