Saudi education ministry launches e-service to plan overseas studies

Saudi Arabia's higher education ministry has launched a new electronic service to help Saudis seeking to study abroad at their own expense to get permission from the ministry before leaving the kingdom, Saudi Gazette has reported. Such permissions became mandatory starting Sunday, the ministry added. "No regional bureaus are allowed to facilitate students hoping to continue their education on their own in foreign countries, and all applications must be channelled through the education ministry as of July 29," the ministry said.
