Saudi health ministry launches safety system for maternity wards

The Saudi health ministry has launched a new electronic system to help ensure the safety of newborns in its hospitals across the country, Arab News has reported. The 'Hugs and Kisses Infant Protection System' has been installed at 16 public maternity hospitals to safeguard its infants and children from the threats of abduction, mismatching, swapping, or mixing up of newborns in the maternity hospitals, said Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Bawardi, clinical information systems manager at the ministry. The new system will be installed at 149 more maternity hospitals, he added.
