33,000 Saudi schools to have CCTV cameras

The Saudi education ministry has announced CCTV cameras are set to be installed in some 33,000 schools around the kingdom to ensure safety, Saudi Gazette has reported. "There are about 5 million students and 700,000 teachers, and if this step is successful, it would mean educating around one third of Saudi society on safety matters," said the director of schools safety and security at the ministry, Majed Al-Harbi. The ministry has allocated SR800m for safety and security measures, Al-Harbi said, adding that 80% of the budget has already been distributed to all educational directorates.
