H.H. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, led other high level government officials in the inauguration of the highly anticipated first edition of Custom Show Emirates (CSE) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

Custom Show Emirates is the only event in the region that has official SEMA participation and creates opportunities for U.S.A. manufacturers to meet buyers from GCC countries and gain insight into the growing specialty market for Middle East racing and performance enthusiasts.
“Custom Show Emirates was the perfect venue for the SEMA Middle East event. It is the largest effort to date in the region to bring together top customizing shops, project vehicles and even an engine builder contest and serves to highlight the dynamic and growing vehicle modification market in the Middle East,” Linda Spencer, Senior Director International and Government Affairs, SEMA, USA.
The SEMA section (open to trade only) and the SEMA Garage (a chance for the US companies to measure customizing-friendly vehicles not sold in the US) were well attended and received high marks from our more than 40 exhibitors representing leading US brands,” she added.
More than 300 modified cars were presented, both privately and by exhibitors in the ‘Custom Cars Competition’ for a chance at winning the coveted title – ‘King of the Show’ – which was ultimately awarded to Hussain Ahmed Abdullah for his meticulously modified Chevrolet Camaro, while thousands of visitors cheered during the intense ‘Engines Battle’; won by the world renowned ‘Team Redline’, led by Howard Tanner, Florida, U.S.A.
“Custom Show Emirates was truly a successful event for ZAFCO as a number of potential customers visited our booths. We are glad to say that our market share was nearly 25-30% in the displayed high-end cars with customized designs, jeeps and bikes with the brands we represent,” Zafar Jafri, SVP Sales, ZAFCO, UAE.
Bike enthusiasts also witnessed a nail biting finish to the ‘Bikers Build-Off’ competition, which was won by Florian Engel of Engels Schmiede, Germany, while Aykut from American Cycles U.S.A, won the Best Bike of the Show. There was also a considerable presence of custom bike builders from Turkey, Belorussia, Switzerland and Germany with more than 70 unique bikes on display which left the visitors in awe.

The outdoor performance arena, which had the largest footfall count, witnessed almost 70 professional drifters roar into action in their modified vehicles with breath-taking performances, including; 4×4 Drifting, Saloon Car Drifting, Gymkhana, Stunt Driving and much more.
