Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi inaugurated on Sunday 39 projects at the cost of EGP 5.884 billion, reports UAE-based Al Bayan, citing a senior official.
Alaa Youssef, the spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, says that the projects were carried out by the General Authority for Roads, Bridges and Land Transport as well as the Engineering Authority of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
He adds that the projects include the establishment of a number of bridges and hubs and will raise the efficiency of a number of roads that have been developed and expanded, such as the roads that link Cairo with Alexandria, Ismailia and Suez.
The projects also included the opening of a centre for the treatment of tumours, the headquarters of the National Defence Council, desalination plants, the port of ADCO, a factory for the production of phosphate, the development of the AlJazeera youth centre and the reclamation of ten thousand acres in Alfarafra.
Al-Sisi stressed the importance of achieving work at a faster pace to complete projects in a timely manner.
He also stressed the importance of implementing projects that contribute to meeting the needs of citizens, raising their standard of living and improving the quality of services, especially in education and health sectors
