The Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) has concluded the year 2015 with a brainstorming session led by Secretary General H.E. Ahmad Bin Meshar Al Muhairi.

The session focused on SLC’s top accomplishments in line with its vision of an integrated legislative system in support of Dubai’s sustainable development plans. Major challenges and opportunities were discussed to continuously promote excellence within the SLC, develop the legislative process and legal system, and ensure implementation of legislations under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai. The discussions complement ongoing efforts to make Dubai one the world’s most advanced countries by 2021.

The attendees included SLC members Yusuf Hassan Al Mutawa, Abdullah Kulaib Al Tunaiji, Khalid Hassan Al Mubasheri, and Mohammed Saif Al Maqbali, in addition to officials from the SLC General Secretariat’s regulatory units. They tackled several developmental and innovative ideas to address the growing requirements of Dubai’s overall urban development as well as the SLC’s current and future plans and their implementing mechanisms.

H.E. Ahmad Al Muhairi, Secretary General of the Supreme Legislation Committee, said: “We are inspired by the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, who said that, ‘The word ‘impossible’ is not in leaders’ dictionaries’. For our part, we look forward to continuing the hard work and achieving our aspirations by focusing more on consolidating the culture of corporate and government innovations and large-scale investments in human resources. We aim to modernize the legal and legislative structures in a way that achieves the rule of law and establishes legitimacy and promotes Dubai’s position as a leading legal hub regionally and internationally. Our achievements in 2015 have further inspired us to continue to move forward in developing legislations that comply with the objectives of Dubai Plan 2021 in our hopes of promoting the well-being of individuals and society, maintaining safety and security, and making the emirate a prime global economy.”

H.E. Al Muhairi added that the SLC’s 2015 achievements reflect its strong commitment to the directives of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Supreme Legislation Committee. The directives underline the importance of encouraging innovation and creativity as key elements of excellence which in turn serves as a fundamental step towards creating a legal environment that addresses and anticipates present and future needs.
