SPE Qatar Section holds its first Women in Energy Event

The event included 3 hour interactive session presented by Jeanine Bailey and Marie Quigley from “Empower World”, International Coaching Federation.

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Qatar Section which is chaired by Sheikh Faisal Bin Fahad Al-Thani, Deputy Manager Director of Maersk Oil Qatar, held its first Women in Energy Event at the W Hotel Doha, which was attended by some 50 female oil and gas professionals and students.

The event included 3 hour interactive session presented by Jeanine Bailey and Marie Quigley from “Empower World”, International Coaching Federation.

The main topics that were addressed during the session were: maximizing potential and ability to use skills, understanding priorities, creating balance between work and personal life, networking and building relationships on a more personal level and creating a friendly environment of fun, enjoyment, connection and learning.

After lunch break Qatari Life Coach Mr. Ajayan Al Hababi talked about dreams and challenges everybody faces and participants had an opportunity to have one on one sessions with him after the end of the event.

“This is a great opportunity for female professionals to network and gain soft-skills that will support their career development” said Jassim Al-Khori Deputy Chairperson of SPE Qatar Section, Technical Manager of Maersk Oil Research and Technology Center (MO-RTC), who greeted participants and talked to Al-Rayyan TV that covered the event.

As a result of this event, participants got to know one another, discovered their own personal version of success and balance, understood what was the most important to them, identified the areas of their life they would love to develop even more, committed to a new way forward to achieve a fulfilling life and much more.

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) has more than 143,000 members in 147 countries participate in 199 section and 337 university chapters and they are united by the SPE vision to enable the global oil and gas exploration and production industry to share technical knowledge needed to meet the world’s energy needs in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

In Qatar, there are over 520 professional members and over 200 student members at Qatar University and Texas A&M University, Qatar. As one of many sections worldwide, SPE Qatar Section’s mission is to collect, disseminate and exchange technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development and production of oil and gas resources, and related technologies for the public benefits; and to provide opportunities for professionals to enhance their technical and professional competence.
