Official statistics revealed that the value added by transformative industries to Bahrain’s economy increased during the nine months from January to September 2015, reaching BHD1.5 billion.
This is compared with BHD1.36bn in 2014, roughly BHD1.34bn in the same period of 2013 and roughly BHD1.29bn in 2012, reports Bahrain-based Alwasat News.
The added value is the net value of the product after subtracting the cost of raw materials and intermediates involved in the industrial process.
The added value of the transformative industries in Bahrain has grown by 11 per cent during the first nine months of 2015 compared with the same period of 2014.
The contribution of the transformative industries in the GDP rose up to 16.59 per cent compared to 14.55 per cent of the total GDP for the same period of 2014.
The most important transformative industries in Bahrain are: oil transformative industries represented in the refinery of Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco); transformative petrochemical industries, led by Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC); and manufacturing metal, led by Aluminium Bahrain (Alba).
