UAE melons declared safe

The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has said the variety of melon that caused an outbreak of listeria in the US is not imported to the UAE, Gulf News has reported. The authority's field inspection department has been monitoring the market since the listeria outbreak was first reported on July 31, said Mohammad Jalal Al Reyaysa, director of communication and community service at ADFCA. "The inspectors have confirmed that melons sold in the market are safe," he said.
