UAE Ministry of Public Works’ projects amount to AED10 billion

Includes investment in various sectors such as health, education and security, as well as projects for the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare

The estimated cost of projects supervised by the UAE Ministry of Public Works amounted to AED9.6 billion in the 2014-2016 plan, reports UAE-based Aliqtisadi.

This is part of its investment programme for projects in various sectors such as health, education and security, as well as projects for the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare.

The ministry carries out a variety of infrastructure projects – as well as projects for roads – in the different emirates, according to each of their needs and priorities.

The ministry announced that this included projects for the Ministry of Education, 109 of which were executed in the northern and eastern regions, including the establishment of ten educational projects for models and different stages of schools.

The ministry has developed new models of educational buildings that meet the requirements and methods of modern education, making schools attractive learning environments that encourage creativity and innovation.

It also implemented 26 projects for the Ministry of Health, 45 projects for the Interior Ministry and four projects for the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.

The ministry is currently working on sports complexes for the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare in several emirates within the state, including the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah, located over an area of 80,000 square metres, at a cost of AED200 million.

As for health projects, the ministry is working on New Hope hospital, located in the third Ruwaya area of Dubai, following best international standards and practices of psychiatry and standards of green architecture health facilities LEEDHC, which will be applied for the first time in the region, with a commitment to modern trends in the design of mental health facilities.
