UAE to host renowned global education fairs, showcasing learning institutions

Representatives Expected from 60 Institutions, 10 Countries

The United Arab Emirates will host one of the world’s most prestigious education fairs later this month, showcasing both national and international learning institutions from the region and beyond, and highlighting the country’s reputation as a global destination of choice for education.

Global Education Fairs UAE is scheduled to take place at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 21, and Dubai’s Shangri-La Hotel on Oct. 22 & 23. The events will allow students and parents to learn about local and international study options, and speak directly with representatives from over 60 institutions, from more than 10 different countries. Participating institutions will include international language schools, boarding and high schools, as well as universities offering a multitude of courses and study options.

A series of educational seminars from experts will take place during the events, covering a wide range of topics such as choosing the right course of study, the application process, and how an international qualification can help advance your career.

The fairs are the first of its kind to be held in the UAE. Organiser BMI has coordinated some of the largest and most important recruitment education events throughout Latin America and Asia. Last year alone, 190,000 visitors, 690 international exhibitors from 24 countries and over 400 educational agencies participated in a BMI event.

The education events come at a time when more and more international students are choosing the United Arab Emirates as a location to further their learning. The country offers stability and safety, a lower cost of living, and a relatively brighter outlook for post graduate employment compared to traditional education destinations like the U.S., U.K., and Australia.
In Dubai, the Transnational Education (TNE) student market is among the fastest growing in the world, expanding by 15% in the last few years, with revenues reaching $148 million, according to research from the Parthenon Group. The city’s leading academic institutions offer a wealth of courses, competitive tuition fees, and an attractive lifestyle.

The Dubai fair is supported by Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) and Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV). The opening ceremony in Dubai on Oct. 22 will feature a keynote address by Dr. Ayoub Kazim, the Managing Director of DIAC and DKV.

Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. Kazim said: “We are very excited to be associated with such a prestigious education fair. Choosing the right learning institution and the right course is one of life’s most important decisions. It requires extensive research and careful consideration. As such, we’re always looking for ways to bring together industry experts, government and academia to explore how we can make these difficult decisions easier for all involved. By fostering education, training, and professional development, we can support Dubai’s transition into an innovation-led economy.”

Samir Zaveri, Chief Executive and President of BMI, said: “Studying abroad is a life altering experience, and finding the right institution can sometimes be a long, confusing process. By hosting the Global Education Fairs in the UAE, we hope to provide students with the necessary tools to make better, informed decisions regarding their education needs. We’re particularly looking forward to opening up a number of new opportunities for the likes of DIAC and DKV in developing student markets like South America and Asia.”
