Since its expansion to the GCC in 2013, Tabanlıoğlu Architects has been continuously working on a large range of projects, including residential units, offices, mixed-use developments, public and cultural buildings, and industrial projects.
The company is currently working on a retail project with two large Dubai-based development companies in Dubai’s Marina area. Dr Mustafa Alper Alhan, Director at Tabanlıoğlu Architects UAE, says this project “will be revealed after approval from higher authorities, roughly around the end of September”.
With offices from Istanbul to London, the company has built itself a reputation as the “66th largest architectural company in the world and the biggest architectural companies in Turkey”, according to Melkan Gürsel Tabanlıoğlu, partner and architect at Tabanlıoğlu Architects.
During this year’s Cityscape Global in Dubai, AMEinfo talked to Melkan Gürsel and Dr Alhan about the firm’s success and its future projects in Dubai.
Melkan Gürsel Tabanlıoğlu and Murat Tabanlıoğlu, partners at the firm, stepped into the GCC in 2013 with their project in Dubai – Crystal Towers at Jumeirah Beach Residence Walk, which consists of residential and hotel units. Thanks to its success, Tabanlıoğlu launched its first office in Dubai in the same year. The company opened an office in Doha, Qatar, the following year while working on a cultural project.
The company’s work ranges from architectural and engineering design to consultancy work, according to Dr Alhan.
Awarded “Architect of the Year in the Middle East” at Cityscape Global 2010, Melkan went on to win the “Residential Project Award” for Qent Istinye, located in Istanbul, Turkey, during this year’s Cityscape.
